Rick and his wife Sue are the Team Leaders of Life Church. They began an interim position in May 2015. this position became permanent the following year. They have 20+ years experience as pastors and charity leaders.

Rick

A born and bred local, Rick’s one of our city’s passionate contributors involved in many things, most of which are purposed to help people and contribute to our community.

In 2004, he established RUSH Youth Mentoring. A school based mentoring program for vulnerable youth that placed a significant adult mentor into their lives.

In 2012 in collaboration with churches across the region he established CityServe.

CityServe is a unique partnership between council, business, churches and community organisations that mobilised volunteers to do community painting, cleaning and gardening projects that benefit the community.

In 2014 Rick was named Newcastle Citizen of the Year for his 20 plus years pioneering and leading community charity work.

Rick is CEO of Soul Café that provides hundreds of free meals every week and other assistance to the homeless, those who have mental health, drug, alcohol or substance abuse problems.

Rick is a passionate and entertaining speaker able to lift the listener’s sights and stir them to action; to love, serve and make a difference in ‘our place’ - Newcastle!

Sue

Sue has many years experience as a youth pastor, the coordinator of RUSH Mentoring Services and as a High School Scripture Teacher.

Sue serves along side of Rick as the Team Leader of Life Church and is the Kitchen Manager of Soul Cafe. In her role as Kitchen Manager she is coordinating teams of 120+ volunteers as they prepare and serve hundreds of meals every week.

Rick and Sue have four children Josh, Vanessa, Luke and Jack and 2 grandchildren Bambi and Leo.

Together they lead in a number of capacities church and charity work throughout Newcastle and the Region.
